FAQ

Where do I park when I come to First Baptist Church?

The church owns four parking lots. One lot is entered from Church Street. The second lot is located on the corner of Church and College Street. A third lot is located behind the fellowship building and is entered from College Street. The fourth lot that the church owns can be accessed from Gadsden Street or Aiken Street. On Sundays, additional parking is located behind Farm Bureau or at First Citizens Bank.

Is a nursery available? Where is it located?

The church nursery is located in the Educational Building which is to the left of the sanctuary when you are facing the sanctuary.

If I want to come to Sunday School, where do I need to go?

Simply come to the educational building to the left of the sanctuary when you are facing the sanctuary and someone will take you to one of our Bible Study groups.

Where and when Is worship held?

Worship is held in our Sanctuary at 10:55 AM.

What do you do on Wednesday nights?

On Wednesday nights we have a prepared meal ($5.00 for adults, $4.00 for children grade 6 and under) at 6:00 PM followed by the prayer service at 6:45 PM. The prayer service is held in the Social Hall around the tables. It is an informal time of prayer and Bible Study. We also have Bible Study for youth and mission organizations for the children. A nursery is provided. The Adult choir then practices at 7:30 PM.

What do I need to wear when I come to First Baptist?

Toggle ContOn Sunday mornings the dress ranges from sports shirts and khakis to t-shirts and blue jeans to coats and ties to shorts with flip flops. Some of the ladies wear dresses but many of them wear pants. Other than Sunday morning, ties are seldom seen and not too many are seen on Sundays, except for some days on the pastor, and very seldom do ladies wear dresses. Here at First Baptist we are not concerned with what a person wears. It is all about gathering to worship, meet God, and grow in our faith.ent

Our Campus

Our Sanctuary is the center building of our complex. There are multiple entrance points across the front.

To the left is our Education Building where we have Sunday School. Please join us.

To the right is our Social Hall and Youth Center.

There 3 large parking lots around our campus giving plenty of options that suit you.

Directions

We are located near the center of downtown Chester, SC, at the corner of College and Church Streets. Our physical address is 102 Church Street, Chester, SC.

From Rock Hill / Charlotte:

Take I-77 south to Hwy 9, exit 65. Turn right and go north on Hwy 9 for about 8 miles. You will cross the Cochran Bypass, Continue straight for one mile, then turn left onto Church Street. Go about 40 yards, and the church will be on your left.

From Columbia:

Take I-77 N to Hwy 97, exit 55. Turn left, and travel about 10 miles. You will come to Columbia Rd, Hwy 321. Turn Right. Cross the Cochran Bypass (1st light) then turn right at the next light (Church Street). Go about 150 yards, and the church will be on your right.

From Rock Hill (via Hwy 72):

Travel south on Hwy 72. At the Chester Bypass, 72 will become Saluda Rd. Continue straight. The next light will be Walnut St. Go straight. Turn left onto Hudson street at the next light. The road will bend sharply to the right, and you will cross Gadsden street at the next light. Hudson street will become Church street, and FBC will be on your left in about 40 yards.

From Armenia:

Travel south on Hwy 97. As you enter Chester, Hwy 97 will become Center road. After going straight through two stop lights (hwy 321, Dawson Drive and Gadsen/West End) turn left at the light at Church Street. FBC will be on your right in about 100 yards.

From Jonesville/Lockhart:

Travel South on Hwy 9 to Chester. As you enter Chester, go straight at the 1st light (Hwy 9 business/Pinckney St). Go about 1.5 miles, then turn right onto Center Rd. Cross Gadsden/West End at the light, then turn left at the light at Church Street. FBC will be on your right in about 100 yards.

From Carlisle/Clinton:

Travel East on Hwy 72 to Chester. As you enter Chester, Hwy 72 will become West End Rd. Cross the Chester Bypass (1st light). The next light will be Columbia St/Center St/Hwy 97 business. Turn right, then left at the next light, Church Street. FBC will be on your right in about 100 yards
